The Journey of Uri Peleg – 40 Years of Horse Training, Listening, and Natural Communication

When you visit Moshav Ramot in the Golan Heights, you’ll find wide open spaces, calm horses, and one guide with a quiet gaze and a lifetime of experience. His name is Uri Peleg – and you can’t truly understand the Natural Connection method without first hearing his story.

It’s not just a story about horse training – it’s about a life built on deep listening to the unspoken: to what the horse feels, understands, and can’t always express.

This approach isn’t based on theory, but on thousands of hours of riding, observing, and learning through real-life experience. It’s a story of persistence, trust in the path, and a bond that starts in the heart and reaches all the way to the horse.

How It All Began – A Boy, a Mare, and an Alfalfa Field

Uri’s connection with horses began long before he made the Golan his home. As a teenager, riding his brother’s mare, he once fell and rolled across an alfalfa field after hitting an irrigation pipe he hadn’t seen. But that fall didn’t deter him – it only confirmed what he already felt in his heart: the horse is not a machine. It’s a partner.

After his military service, Uri moved to Moshav Ramot, began farming, and raised his first herd. By the late 1970s, he had a Quarter Horse mare named Natasha – and from there, the journey truly began. It was a journey without teachers, manuals, or budgets for arenas or fancy equipment. What he did have – was connection. A bond that grew from everyday life.

Uri discovered that the horse can be the best teacher – if you learn how to listen. It was a process of full commitment – open-hearted and hard-working, day by day.

Learning from the Horse – Without Books or Shortcuts

Over the years, when resources were scarce, Uri simply learned from the field. From trial and error. Many of the techniques he developed didn’t come from books – they came from quiet observation. He had to invent his own solutions, pay attention to the horse, and discover what worked.

This wasn’t standard training. The method he developed – Natural Connection – is based on understanding the horse’s structure, body language, fears, and instincts. Instead of “forcing” the horse to perform, Uri teaches riders how to work with the horse’s body – not against it. Trust is built. A language is born.

This approach allows even beginner riders to develop deep skill – because it doesn’t require strength, only presence. What may seem complex becomes simple once the horse understands you.

A Journey Without Reins – Proving It’s Possible

In both 2001 and 2006, Uri embarked on long-distance riding journeys across Israel – using only the Natural Connection method. No reins. No bridle. No force. Just a shared language the body understands.

This wasn’t a stunt – it was a statement. A demonstration that a horse who truly understands you will stay by your side even when you’re not holding on. Uri emphasizes that he doesn’t recommend riding without reins – but for him, this experience was essential to prove that trust can carry you, even when control is released.

It was an answer to skeptics – not with words, but with real-life facts. A horse that chooses to be with you, not dragged along – that’s the strongest proof of all.

When a Horse Meets Trauma – And the Heart Opens

Over the years, Uri has worked with hundreds of riders – teens, horse owners, trainers, instructors – and also with people dealing with fear, trauma, or physical limitations. Again and again, he saw: when you give space to both the rider’s and the horse’s pace – things open up. Fear melts. Communication is built.

This method isn’t just for competition – it’s for life. For anyone who wants to truly connect with their horse.

It’s especially powerful for those who’ve had difficult experiences – with riding, with connection, or simply with confidence. With the tools of Natural Connection, anyone can find a new path.

Personal Courses – A Process Built on Listening

Uri builds every course around the person in front of him. There’s no single formula, no fixed lessons. There is listening. Each journey begins with a Connection Ride – not to judge, but to understand where you’re starting from. From there, a personalized process unfolds, step by step.

Courses are held at Moshav Ramot, in open fields overlooking the Sea of Galilee and the Golan. They’re designed for anyone who feels it’s time to ride differently – not through struggle, but through cooperation.

This is learning grounded in inner calm – not external achievement. Riders of all levels leave with insights that stay with them far beyond the riding arena.
